you want to book more destination weddings? or maybe you want to book your first destination wedding but have no idea how to make it happen? in the past year or so, we’ve received wedding inquiries for amazing locations like mexico, australia, canada, fiji, hawaii, san fransisco, pakistan, new york, los angeles, disneyworld… and then some! and you want to know our secret? we have a destination portfolio. we are travel-obsessed and aren’t afraid to let our clients know it!
we have spent years shooting in nearly every beautiful place we have visited, which is helpful for a variety of reasons:
1. our clients can picture themselves in their destination in our pictures. they can see examples of our wedding work at beaches and cities and mountains and beyond.
2. they know we can handle it. there’s some inherent stress associated with traveling– with customs, language barriers, cultural differences, cancelled flights– you name it, it can happen. so when you’re traveling across the country or across the world to work an often stressful job, there’s just a whole added layer of complexity. having a destination portfolio shows clients that you can handle the travel.
3. we inspire them. we can’t tell you how often we have clients getting married somewhere beautiful who say “we really love the photo you took in _____, and we love that basic idea for our wedding!” or who mention that they were inspired by some of our clients’ destination wedding details that we show off.
so i know you’re thinking, “well, that’s great. but how am i supposed to have a destination wedding portfolio to book more weddings– if i don’t have a destination wedding portfolio to begin with?”
and that’s where the 2016 PURA VIDA PHOTO RETREAT comes in. we’re so thrilled to be hosting a destination wedding workshop for photographers with the insanely talented mil besos costa rica in guanacaste, costa rica in november. we’ll have three gorgeous styled shoots (engagement, elopement, + wedding) to boost your destination portfolio, as well as classes discussing the ins and outs of the destination industry, photography concepts, and business + branding. we’re also focusing on wellness, so we’ll have pampering, relaxation, affirmations, and daily yoga classes.
